The town grew from a fishing and milling settlement into an early Costa del Sol resort in the twentieth century. Its centre still gives you a different scene from the beaches below: Calle San Miguel, Plaza de la Nogalera and Plaza Costa del Sol form a useful town circuit before choosing a coastal stretch such as La Carihuela.
