Torrox
Torrox pairs an inland whitewashed town with a separate Mediterranean coast. Visit the old streets for the town's layered history, then head coastward for a very different setting around the lighthouse and Roman remains.

The split between Torrox Pueblo and Torrox Costa makes the municipality more interesting than a single beach stop. The old town sits inland above the river valley; the coast has El Morche, El Peñoncillo and the archaeological area by the lighthouse. Give each part its own time rather than assuming they are one compact walking area.
What to look for
Torrox Pueblo's old core occupies the inland side of the municipality, apart from Torrox Costa.
Roman remains near the coastal lighthouse recall an earlier settlement and fish-processing industry.
The Torrox river valley links cultivated inland slopes with the Mediterranean shore.
Useful to know
Plan separate inland and coastal stops; Torrox Pueblo and Torrox Costa are about 4 km apart.
Check current local transport before relying on a bus between the town, coast and El Morche.
