Autonomy Monument
Six birds give this monument on Fokkerweg a readable symbol of the former Netherlands Antilles. It is a short stop for travelers interested in the islands’ constitutional history.
The sculpture commemorates autonomy and uses a group of birds to represent the islands. Its meaning becomes clearer when you connect that visible form with the inscription and the political changes of the twentieth century. Plan it as a brief exterior observation, with time to read rather than a long standalone excursion.
