Wedding Cake House
The ornate former house on Scharlooweg is a distinct exterior stop on a Scharloo walk. Its gallery, columns and broad steps explain the Wedding Cake nickname.
The façade rewards looking at details rather than simply taking a photograph of the whole house. Repeated arches, decorative capitals and the broad fan-shaped steps give the building its elaborate character. Its later use by the National Archives adds context, while the exterior remains the focus of this visit.
