Bohemia: Western Czech lands
Bohemia is the historic western region of the Czech Republic, bordered by mountains and connected by the Vltava and Elbe river basins. Its name appears throughout Czech royal history.
Prague sits within the region that became the core of the Bohemian kingdom. The Krkonoše, Bohemian Forest and Ore Mountains help mark its wider edges, while the Vltava and Elbe tie many inland journeys together. Keeping Bohemia distinct from Moravia makes castle, town and landscape choices easier to place geographically.
