White Rock Lake
White Rock Lake offers a long lakeside walk or ride in east Dallas, away from downtown's streets. Choose a shore segment unless you want a substantial outing.
Why go
The reservoir and surrounding park give Dallas a broad open-water landscape with trails, fishing piers and nearby cultural stops. A full circuit is much longer than a casual stroll, so the lake works just as well as a shorter water-view visit. Its history as a former water source also explains the scale of the reservoir.
What to look for
The trail follows broad stretches of lake shore.
Fishing piers project toward the water.
The Bath House Cultural Center and Dallas Arboretum sit around the lake area.
Useful to know
Pick a shore segment for a short visit; the full trail is a much longer walk or ride.
Check park notices for construction or traffic changes before relying on a continuous circuit.
Bring protection from sun or weather for the exposed lakeside sections.
