Kalø Castle

Kalø Castle is a medieval ruin reached by a long causeway across the bay. The approach and the surviving tower together make this a coastal history walk.

Kalø Castle

Why go

Cross the causeway slowly enough to watch the ruin grow ahead of you. Its isolated position becomes clear before you reach the remaining masonry, and the tower gives the walk a distinct endpoint. This is more rewarding as an out-and-back walk than as a distant photograph, so account for the return crossing as well.

What to look for

  • The long causeway leads across the bay.
  • A surviving tower marks the ruined castle.

Useful to know

  • Allow for the return walk across the causeway.
