Why go
The resort's paired towers, central arch and seaward position give Palm Jumeirah a dramatic visual terminus. Even without entering its separately operated attractions, the exterior helps explain how the island's transport spine and resort landscape were composed around a single landmark.
What to look for
- Two accommodation wings meet at a high central arch containing the Royal Bridge Suite.
- The resort stands at the apex of Palm Jumeirah's outer crescent.
- Nautical and Atlantis themes are combined with distinct Arabian design elements.
The full story
Opened in 2008, Atlantis, The Palm was the first resort built on Palm Jumeirah. Its two accommodation wings meet at a tall central arch, with the Royal Bridge Suite spanning the opening. Set at the apex of the outer crescent, it closes the long view along the island's main axis. The nautical theme draws on the myth of Atlantis while adding Arabian references, but the building's position matters more than its decoration. The trunk and monorail line lead toward the resort, while the crescent opens to the sea behind it. From the island, Atlantis reads as both a destination and the visual endpoint of the reclaimed-land plan. That relationship makes its scale easier to read from the Palm's main approach.
Useful to know
- Plan the exterior together with Palm Jumeirah rather than as an isolated city stop.
- Treat the hotel, aquarium and water park as separate experiences with their own access arrangements.
- Check the official site before entry because the resort does not have one venue-wide visitor timetable.
