KIT Kunst im Tunnel
KIT puts contemporary art beneath Düsseldorf's Rhine embankment, reached from the waterfront rather than a conventional street-side museum door. Its entrance is set into the embankment.
Why go
The unusual underground setting gives a clear reason to interrupt a river walk for art. Exhibitions change, so check what is on before going; the adjacent promenade remains a separate outdoor visit if the gallery is shut. The entrance itself reveals the gallery's unusual location.
