Henry B. Plant Museum
The Henry B. Plant Museum occupies part of Tampa’s former resort hotel, with Gilded Age rooms and furnishings. Its setting connects decorative objects with the larger architectural ambitions of the historic hotel that surrounds them.
It joins domestic-scale displays to an unusually elaborate hotel setting. Looking at the rooms and exterior together helps explain the ambitions of the building. The contrast between elaborate exterior forms and furnished rooms helps visitors consider how the hotel presented comfort and status, making architecture an active part of the museum experience.
