Cannes
Cannes has two distinct waterfront experiences: the older lanes of Le Suquet above Vieux Port and the broad Croisette promenade. Visit both to see more than its festival image.
Climb through Le Suquet for the historic hillside quarter and its view over Vieux Port, then compare it with La Croisette at water level. The change in scale makes Cannes easier to read: a port settlement grew into a resort and international event city. The lanes and promenade are separate walks, so give each its own time.
What to look for
Le Suquet's narrow lanes above Vieux Port
The waterfront sweep of La Croisette
Useful to know
Start in Le Suquet if the old quarter matters most; its hillside streets demand more effort than La Croisette.
Plan La Croisette as a separate waterfront walk, rather than an extension of the port viewpoint.
