Mâcon
Mâcon offers a gentle Burgundy town walk between its pedestrian centre and the Saône. Its river setting gives the compact old streets a broader sense of place.
Walk the pedestrian historic centre, then turn to the Saône riverfront to see the feature that long shaped Mâcon. The town began as an Aeduan settlement and Roman river port, and its position between Burgundy, Bresse and the Beaujolais hills still helps explain its character. This is a flexible outdoor stop rather than one ticketed attraction.
