Pont du Gard
Pont du Gard is a Roman aqueduct bridge between Nîmes and Avignon. Approach it on foot to see the arches; the surrounding site supports a longer visit.
Why go
The bridge carried water toward ancient Nîmes and still makes the engineering legible at landscape scale. Its three tiers can be seen from the riverbanks, while the museum explains the wider aqueduct system. It is a distinct stop between the cities rather than an attraction within either centre.
