Rouen
Rouen's centre brings together its cathedral façade, Gros-Horloge and timber-framed streets. A walk to Place du Vieux-Marché also connects the cityscape to Joan of Arc's history.
Walk from Notre-Dame Cathedral past the Gros-Horloge and timber-framed houses to Place du Vieux-Marché. This sequence shows the scale and texture of a medieval Norman city that was once a major political centre. Joan of Arc was executed in Rouen in 1431; the market square gives that history a specific place.
