Why go
This northern island offers two different approaches to its bird colonies. Bahía Darwin brings white coral sand, mangroves and tide pools, with red-footed and Nazca boobies among the possible observations. El Barranco adds a steeper route above the coast. The contrast makes the actual landing sites more important than an itinerary that merely names Genovesa.
What to look for
- Bahía Darwin occupies a bay formed by a breached volcanic caldera.
- Swallow-tailed gulls and nesting seabirds inhabit the bay’s coastal setting.
- El Barranco climbs toward cliffs and a thin palo santo woodland.
Useful to know
- Check current National Park notices for Bahía Darwin and El Barranco.
