Tortuga Bay rewards the approach walk with two quite different shores: an exposed Pacific beach and a sheltered inner cove. The contrast makes it worth allowing a substantial part of the day, with time to observe the coast as well as rest beside the water.
What to look for
A long white beach fronts the Pacific
A sheltered second bay contrasts with the exposed surf beach
Useful to know
Allow about an hour on the approach trail each way.
Ask the park staff which water areas are safe; the exposed beach has strong currents.
