Getting Around Glacier

Plan daily movement around long valleys, separate entrances, seasonal alpine roads, limited parking, shuttle stops, and slow unpaved approaches across the park.

Getting Around Glacier

Why go

Distances on a map understate Glacier's travel friction. Going-to-the-Sun Road is narrow and seasonal, Many Glacier and Two Medicine use separate approaches, and North Fork roads are slow. Group nearby stops by park sector and avoid treating the park as a single drive-through loop.

Useful to know

  • Use the shuttle when its route and operating dates fit, but keep a plan that does not depend on spare seats.
  • Do not cross road barriers or improvise parking; move to another stop when a lot or area is restricted.
