Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach place sand beside the high-rise centre; Burleigh Heads and the southern beaches offer a different coastal rhythm. Tallebudgera and Currumbin have creek-mouth settings as well as ocean frontage. These are distinct outings, and conditions can change between them, so a beach name alone should not decide where to swim.
Useful to know
Swim only between the red and yellow flags at a patrolled ocean beach, and follow lifeguard directions.
Read the beach conditions board before entering the water; surf and currents can change.
Do not treat residential canals as swimming spots.
