Why go

The machinery matters because much of it remains where production took place, rather than being arranged in a separate display hall. Volunteers demonstrate the relationship between looms, power transmission and skilled hands. It offers a close view of industrial work that complements the city’s maritime and vehicle history without repeating their collections.

What to look for

  • Original looms, tools and transmission equipment
  • Textile demonstrations in the former factory

Useful to know

  • Plan around a guided demonstration so that the machinery becomes more than a static display.
