Oscar Fredrik Church brings elaborate neo-Gothic architecture to Olivedal. Its towers and decorated exterior make it an architectural destination even when an interior visit does not fit your plans.

Helgo Zettervall designed the church with influences from continental European cathedrals rather than Nordic Gothic buildings. Opened in 1893, it offers a different architectural vocabulary from Gothenburg’s classical churches. The exterior’s vertical forms are the immediate draw; older paintings and decoration uncovered during restoration add another layer inside.
What to look for
Neo-Gothic towers rise above the decorated church exterior.
Restoration uncovered older interior paintings and decoration.
Useful to know
Plan around the church’s visitor schedule if seeing the interior is your main reason to go.
