Oscar II’s Fort
Oscar II’s Fort opens Gothenburg’s early twentieth-century coastal defences through guided visits. Its rock-cut corridors and gun positions require a planned excursion rather than casual walk-in sightseeing.

The fort brings the harbour’s strategic role down to the scale of kitchens, living quarters and technical passages. Built into the rock, it shows a later phase of defence than Skansen Kronan or Nya Älvsborg. A guided visit makes those spaces understandable and gives the remaining military structures a clear relationship to the water outside.
