From the Grand Canyon World / Itineraries

Desert View and East Rim

A driving collection along the eastern South Rim, joining Grandview, Lipan, Navajo Point, the Watchtower, and Tusayan Pueblo. Let Desert View and East Rim guide one realistic decision about time, distance, and effort.

Desert View and East Rim

Why go

Leave the village area through Pipe Creek Vista and Grandview Point, where the eastern drive begins to separate from central South Rim scenery. Moran Point emphasizes rock color, while Lipan Point opens a longer reach of the Colorado River. Continue through Navajo Point to Desert View Watchtower, then finish at Tusayan Pueblo for a quieter archaeological counterpoint. Keep one middle overlook optional when parking, weather, or daylight slows the route.
