Why go
Begin at Point Imperial for the highest developed panorama, then follow the winding scenic road through Vista Encantada and Roosevelt Point. Walhalla Overlook adds cultural landscape context; Angel's Window and Cape Royal provide the broad finish. This is a driving day with repeated short walks, not a compact loop. Check current North Rim closures, seasonal road status, water availability, and fire-recovery conditions before departure; omit a pullout rather than compressing the time at Cape Royal.

Vista Encantada
A roadside pullout looks east over Walhalla Plateau toward distant desert country. Treat this landscape as a separate journey, with longer approaches and fewer facilities than the South Rim.

Roosevelt Point
A short path and picnic area provide a quieter view along the Cape Royal Road. Here the useful comparison is between wooded rim, open canyon, and the distant plateaus beyond.

Walhalla Overlook
The overlook faces archaeological landscapes on the Walhalla Plateau and the eastern canyon. Build the visit around daylight and current access, leaving room for weather or fire-recovery restrictions.

Angel's Window
A natural opening in the limestone fin frames the canyon below Cape Royal. Use the surrounding terrain to judge scale before committing to another overlook, trail, or inner-canyon segment.
