Chasteen Creek Cascade

Follow Bradley Fork for a 3.6-mile round trip to a sandstone cascade. This Smokemont-side walk offers a quieter creek corridor than the busiest overlooks.

Chasteen Creek Cascade

Why go

Chasteen Creek Cascade is a low, broad fall where water slides over worn sandstone and quartz streaks. The NPS directions give a 3.6-mile round trip from Bradley Fork Trailhead, following a former logging route beside the creek. This is a quieter Smokemont walk whose interest lies in the stream corridor as much as the final cascade.

What to look for

  • A peaceful cascade that slides 15 feet (4.6 m) down smoothly worn sandstone.

Useful to know

  • Start at Bradley Fork Trailhead in Smokemont. NPS directions give 3.6 miles round trip; the overview rounds it to 4 miles.
