Archaeological Site of Ancient Messene
Set aside a longer outdoor circuit for Messene’s unusually extensive civic and athletic remains. Its spread-out ruins need more time than a single theatre stop.
Why go
The scale of Messene becomes clear while moving from theatre to stadium and other public buildings through the excavated city. Allow more than a photo stop; distances within the site and exposed paths can make the walk substantial. Its rural position means transport back should be settled before arrival.
