Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus
The theatre and healing precinct belong to one landscape, so give Epidaurus time beyond a quick auditorium photo. The sanctuary buildings explain why people came here for treatment and ritual.
The theatre is the headline monument, but the healing sanctuary gives it a broader ancient setting. Give time to the archaeological paths between the theatre and sanctuary structures instead of stopping at the auditorium alone. The site is outside town, so onward travel matters when combining it with Mycenae or Nafplio.
What to look for
Compare the theatre seating with the remains of Asklepios’s sanctuary.
Useful to know
Verify the theatre and sanctuary access together; events can alter how the theatre is used, and the site requires a road transfer.
