The Cyclades
The Cyclades are an Aegean island group southeast of mainland Greece. Their islands range from the volcanic terrain of Milos and Santorini to Naxos's greener hills and Delos's ruins.
Why go
Use this group to compare islands with genuinely different days out. Milos draws visitors to rock formations and coves; Santorini pairs caldera views with Bronze Age Akrotiri; Delos is chiefly an archaeological excursion. Ferries connect the group, but the useful port and route depend on the islands you choose.
What to look for
Delos gives the island group its name: the Cyclades were thought of as islands around its sanctuary.
Milos and Santorini stand apart for their volcanic terrain.
