Hakone Botanical Garden of Wetlands
Boardwalks lead through wetland and alpine plant collections in Sengokuhara. This is a slower, plant-focused stop whose reward changes with the season and current flowering conditions.
The garden gathers marsh, fen, bog and swamp habitats in one walk, so visitors can compare plants that are easy to overlook in the wider landscape. Its Sengokuhara setting also connects the displays to Hakone's own moorland. Come for close observation of plants rather than a broad mountain panorama.
What to look for
Boardwalks bring visitors close to wetland plants without crossing the planted ground.
Marsh, fen, bog and swamp displays show different wet habitats.
Native species connect the collections to Sengokuhara Moor.
Useful to know
Check the garden's current season and flowering information before traveling to Sengokuhara.
Allow time to read the plant displays; the interest is in small differences along the boardwalk.
