Why go
This walk suits visitors who want to understand the hillside above the harbour before spending time along the water. Give Halifax Citadel National Historic Site the longest visit, then use the Town Clock as a short pause on the descent. St. Paul’s Church and Province House bring the focus from military defence to religious and political life; confirm any interior visits before setting out. City Hall is an optional exterior stop beside the church. The route leaves room for lunch and a slower downhill walk. Check the Citadel’s seasonal programme, since winter access does not include the full range of exhibits.
