Why go
This museum route compares three kinds of evidence: the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology's objects and houses, Hoa Lo Prison's surviving spaces, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum's biographical interpretation. Thien Quang Lake offers a change of setting between visits. Together, the stops illuminate cultural diversity, colonial imprisonment and twentieth-century state history without asking one institution to represent all of Hanoi. The museums sit in different districts, so a later stop can remain optional instead of forcing a rushed gallery.
Useful to know
- Allow time to travel from the western Ethnology Museum back to central Hoa Lo; add Ba Dinh only if the day still has room.
