Why go
Architect Ngô Viết Thụ designed the palace as the home and workplace of South Vietnam’s president. Its rooms and exhibits connect the political life of the building with the events of April 1975. The site also occupies the ground of the earlier Norodom Palace, giving this single stop several layers of Saigon history.
What to look for
- Preserved presidential rooms and period interiors.
- Exhibits about the 1975 handover of power.
- The modern palace built on the former Norodom Palace site.
Useful to know
- Allow time for the interior rooms rather than treating this as a facade stop.
- Combine it with Ho Chi Minh City Museum to compare two nearby former government residences.
