Why go
This Hakodate route follows the city from its seafood trade to the historic hillside and finally its famous two-bay view. Start at the Morning Market near the station, then use the city tram toward Motomachi and walk up to the Orthodox Church. The architecture makes a distinct pause before the short walk to the ropeway base. Allow time for boarding as well as the three-minute ascent; the transfer budget includes both. Mount Hakodate is the natural finish once you have seen the streets below. Confirm the ropeway’s operating status for your date, as weather and maintenance can affect service.
