Mount Usu

Mount Usu offers a ropeway ascent to views of an active volcano and Lake Toya. The pin marks Usuzan Ropeway upper station, beside the summit outlook; the crater-view walk continues beyond it.

Mount Usu

Why go

The ropeway reaches an upper station where the active-volcano landscape opens toward Lake Toya and the bay. From there, you can choose the nearby summit panorama or continue on foot toward a crater outlook. This pin marks the upper station, reached from the Showa-Shinzan base; it is not a road arrival point. Check ropeway service and walking conditions before setting out.

What to look for

  • Ropeway ascent to the upper station and summit outlook.
  • Optional walk toward the crater with Lake Toya views.
