Our Lady of Joy Abbey’s garden setting
Our Lady of Joy Abbey is a resident Trappist monastery on Lantau. Casual visitors should focus on the separate downhill garden and the surrounding walking route.

The abbey, formerly called Trappist Haven Monastery, lies along the walking route between Discovery Bay and Mui Wo. Its association with Trappist milk belongs to the site’s history, but the visitor focus is the Pax Intrantibus garden. Granite pillars and a pavilion containing a Virgin Mary statue give this permitted garden a clear devotional character.

Useful to know
Allow about 30 minutes for the permitted garden and exterior observation; the Discovery Bay–Mui Wo walk is extra.
Keep to the separate public garden; contact the abbey in advance about any pilgrimage or chapel visit.
