St. John’s Building
The office tower above the Peak Tram’s Garden Road terminus is mainly an architectural context stop. Most visitors encounter it while preparing for the ride uphill.

This site shows how a transport terminus has repeatedly been rebuilt into the surrounding city. Apartments above an earlier station gave way to a taller commercial and residential building, followed by the present tower. Its design by Kwan, Ng, Wong & Associates received the Hong Kong Institute of Architects’ Silver Medal in 1983.
What to look for
The Peak Tram’s lower terminus occupies the base of the building.
The tower stands on the slope between Garden Road and Cotton Tree Drive.
Useful to know
Notice the building before boarding the tram rather than making a separate trip.
Combine the exterior with neighbouring The Helena May.
