Getting Around Israel
Trains connect major cities, buses reach most towns, and a car becomes useful for widely spaced parks, desert routes and northern reserves.
Why go
Choose transport by region. Rail works well between Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Haifa and Acre, while Jerusalem and Tel Aviv have strong local transit. Masada, Ein Gedi, the Golan and the Negev require closer timetable planning, and some itineraries are realistic only by car. Weekly rest days and holidays can sharply reduce service, so verify the return before leaving.
Useful to know
Check both outbound and return service before a remote day trip.
Avoid driving into dense old-city cores when park-and-ride or transit is practical.
Carry offline directions where desert or border-region reception may be weak.
