Why go
Dolmabahçe introduces the nineteenth-century court, while Beyoğlu and İstiklal show the commercial and cultural city that grew nearby. Hagia Sophia and distant business districts do not fit this progression naturally, so keep them optional. The day works best as palace rooms followed by an open street sequence, with one market or park finish rather than every source stop. It suits visitors who can spend several hours indoors first and prefer a flexible, mostly open-air second half.
Useful to know
- Give Dolmabahçe the morning, then continue toward Beyoğlu without adding another large museum.
- Choose the Spice Bazaar or Gülhane Park as a final contrast; Levent and Maslak require a separate modern-city outing.
