Rome from the Colosseum to the Borghese Gallery
Begin among the Colosseum’s ancient tiers, study the Pantheon’s dome, then finish with sculpture and painting at the Borghese Gallery. The route moves from imperial engineering to later Roman art.
This is a full but varied day for visitors who want Rome’s major buildings and art in one coherent sequence. Give the Colosseum a focused morning visit, then cross the centre to see how the Pantheon solves a very different architectural problem. The last stretch leads to the Borghese Gallery, where Bernini and Caravaggio offer a quieter indoor finish. The route rewards close attention to each place: imperial spectacle gives way to the Pantheon’s extraordinary dome, then to sculpture and painting made for intimate rooms. All three visits matter to that progression, and the walks leave time to notice the city between them.
