Urbino
Urbino is a steep, walled Marche town shaped by a Renaissance court. The Ducal Palace is its anchor, with views and streets that reward time outside it.
Federico da Montefeltro's patronage made Urbino an important Renaissance centre. Visit the Ducal Palace for that story, then follow the sloping streets toward the walls and hilltop views. The largely surviving fortifications keep the court city connected to its setting.
What to look for
The Ducal Palace anchors Urbino's Renaissance centre.
Renaissance walls and bastions still define the historic town.
Hilltop views reveal the steep setting of the walled streets.
Useful to know
Plan for sustained uphill and downhill walking in the centre.
Check palace entry details if its interior is central to your visit.
