Gambir Station
Notice Gambir’s green facade and tiered roof while you are near Monas. Its architectural interest works best as an exterior stop beside an active railway station.
The station brings Indonesian roof forms into a transport building on the eastern side of Merdeka Square. Green porcelain gives the facade a strong identity among neighbouring railway structures. It is worth a look for that combination of local architectural references and railway function, especially if you are already exploring the Monas area.
What to look for
The tiered roof draws on Indonesian joglo forms.
Green porcelain gives the station its distinctive colour.
Useful to know
Keep sightseeing to permitted public areas; boarding areas follow railway travel rules.
Use the exterior as a companion stop to Merdeka Square.
