Hakone Shrine
Hakone Shrine’s cedar-lined approach and lakeside torii connect a wooded sanctuary with Lake Ashi, offering a religious stop within Hakone’s mountain and waterfront sightseeing area.
Why go
The sanctuary above the shore is as important as the famous waterside gate. Climbing through the trees gives the visit a quieter rhythm and reveals the shrine as an active religious place. The upper precinct and lakefront together reveal how the woodland sanctuary connects with its waterfront setting.
