Kyiv Fortress
Explore military engineering at the Hospital Fortification, the museum focus of Kyiv Fortress. This is one visit within a much larger, scattered system of defensive structures.
Earthworks, walls and caponiers make the shape of a nineteenth-century fortification tangible. The museum also connects these structures with national liberation movements, adding a human history to their defensive purpose. It is a stronger choice for a focused history visit than trying to locate every surviving part of the former fortress system.
