National Museum of Decorative Art of Ukraine
This museum introduces Ukrainian decorative arts through exhibitions drawn from a broad collection. Choose it for materials, regional traditions and individual artists, checking the exhibition subject first.
The museum connects objects used or worn in daily life with the work of recognized artists. Its collecting fields range from textiles and carved wood to ceramics, glass and decorative painting. That breadth makes it a useful complement to the Lavra's religious architecture, especially if you want to understand Ukrainian visual culture through craft and materials.
What to look for
Compare textile patterns and ceramic decoration if these materials feature in the exhibition.
Look for differences in technique between handmade objects and decorative painting.
Useful to know
Choose the exhibition for its subject; the full historic collection is not a guaranteed display.
Check which artists are represented if you are coming specifically for Bilokur or Prymachenko.
