Why go
The street was cut through the former defensive earthwork, opening a link between the Golden Gate area and Khreshchatyk. Its surviving late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century buildings add architectural interest to that connection. The Molodyi Theatre and monuments to Les Kurbas and the fictional Panikovskyi give the walk a cultural thread.
What to look for
- The Sirotkin apartment-house facade is one of the street's architectural landmarks.
- The Molodyi Theatre occupies a building completed in 1902.
- Panikovskyi recalls a character from Ilf and Petrov's novel The Little Golden Calf.
Useful to know
- Use Prorizna to connect a Khreshchatyk walk with the Golden Gate area.
- Separate a look at the theatre building from any performance plan; check the theatre's own programme for attendance.
