Getting Around Ko Samui
Ko Samui's coastal road connects the main beach areas, but a simple looking cross island trip may follow a long curve. Songthaews, taxis and rentals offer different levels of flexibility.
For a day around Chaweng, Lamai or Nathon, choose transport around the actual stops rather than the island's small map size. Songthaews are shared pickup vehicles useful along common coastal routes; a taxi can reach a specific destination more directly. A rental gives freedom but makes you responsible for the roads and the vehicle terms.
Useful to know
Confirm a songthaew's destination before boarding and agree on a price for a private ride first.
Arrange the return from an inland sight before leaving the coastal transport corridor.
Inspect any rental vehicle and its agreement carefully before accepting it.
