Why go
Train arrival places you beside Olvera Street and within the Downtown network, making it the easiest gateway to combine with a central first day. Other destinations still require a transfer, and schedules or platform details should be checked with the operator.
The full story
Union Station is both the principal intercity rail terminal and one of Los Angelesʼ strongest historic interiors. From the station, local rail and buses connect toward Downtown, Hollywood, Santa Monica and other corridors, though not every hotel is directly served. Check the current train status and the complete onward route before arrival. The large complex has several exits and transport areas, so follow signs for the correct mode rather than leaving at the first street door. Travelers staying Downtown can begin with El Pueblo across the road, but luggage should be secured before sightseeing. If the final destination is Malibu or another dispersed area, compare a rental car, bus connection or ride from an appropriate transfer point. The historic waiting room deserves a brief look before departure.
Useful to know
- Follow station signs for the correct local connection and exit.
- Secure luggage before combining arrival with El Pueblo or Downtown sightseeing.
