A little preparation leaves more attention for the museum itself. Choose the visit that interests you, allow time for admission and security, and keep some space in the day for a pause. The dated visit facts give the current published hours, prices and entry conditions.

Before booking

Check which admission category applies to you, including any free-entry eligibility, and what proof you need to bring. Reserve a time slot, including when admission is free. A booking helps organise arrival; individual works and rooms may still be unavailable.

Before leaving for the museum

Check the current opening information and room availability. Review the museum’s bag rules and available services for anything you plan to bring. Keep your ticket and any required eligibility documents easy to reach.

If you need step-free access

These routes involve changes of level. Ask staff about the lifts and open passages you need before starting, using your chosen route’s rooms as reference points.

Once inside

Use the information desks if a work’s location is uncertain. Follow current signs and staff instructions when changing your route. Keep the last-entry and room-clearance times in mind, and plan breaks before making your final exit.

Choose your entrance

Find the entrance name on your ticket before joining a queue. The Pyramid opens from the main courtyard. The Carrousel approach comes from rue de Rivoli, while Passage Richelieu and Porte des Lions serve different arrival points around the palace. Their access conditions are listed below; check which applies to you before walking around the building.

Find your bearings beneath the Pyramid

Take a moment in the reception hall before choosing Denon, Sully or Richelieu. The information desks can help you match a room number to the right wing. Ask there if you need help with tickets or with a room that is unavailable. Each wing entrance begins a different part of the visit, so check the first room of your route before going through.

Lockers, toilets and assistance

Use the cloakroom marker to find where to leave permitted belongings, and the toilets marker to plan a break before entering the galleries. Visitor assistance is the place to ask about mobility equipment and support for your visit. Check the dated service conditions below, and ask staff about the arrangement that suits you.

Before you arrive

The Pyramid is the main individual entrance. Carrousel access is via 99 rue de Rivoli. Passage Richelieu serves eligible groups, members and activity or event visitors; check your eligibility. Porte des Lions requires an admission ticket and has shorter hours; equipment loans are unavailable there. Confirm the entrance conditions for your visit.
