Museo de Málaga
The Palacio de la Aduana brings Málaga's archaeological and fine-arts collections under one roof. It is the best single museum for a broad provincial timeline.
Why go
Archaeological objects connect the city with Phoenician, Roman and Islamic settlement, while paintings trace later artistic life. The grand customs-house setting gives the collections civic scale. This breadth makes the museum especially useful after seeing the Roman Theatre, Alcazaba or nineteenth-century centre outside.
What to look for
Archaeology galleries span the province's ancient and medieval past.
Fine-arts rooms include Spanish painting tied to Málaga's cultural development.
The collections fill the monumental Palacio de la Aduana.
Useful to know
Choose one collection first if your time is limited; both sections can fill a long visit.
Pair it with the nearby Alcazaba and Roman Theatre for stronger archaeological context.
