Why go
Malmö Centralstation suits a visit focused on the old squares and Sankt Petri; Triangeln is useful for the southern centre, and Hyllie for the city's south-western side. Check the official operator's route and timetable for your date before choosing a train, airport connection or local bus.
The full story
The Øresund crossing makes Copenhagen and Malmö part of a practical two-country rail journey. Trains from Copenhagen Airport and central Copenhagen reach Malmö through the bridge and city rail tunnel. Within Malmö, Centralstation, Triangeln and Hyllie serve different parts of the city, so the best station depends on where you are going next. Malmö Centralstation is a clear starting point for the historic centre: Stortorget and Sankt Petri lie beyond the canal. Triangeln brings you nearer the southern central districts; Hyllie serves the south-west. Malmö Airport is outside the city in Svedala municipality, so an arrival there also requires an onward connection. The older city centre is compact enough to explore on foot once you arrive, and cycling is another established way to move through Malmö. If your day also includes Västra hamnen or a southern district, choose the return station and local connection before you set out. For trains, buses and airport transfers, use the relevant official operator's current journey planner; routes, frequencies, tickets and service arrangements can change.
