Dingli Cliffs

Malta's southwestern cliffs give broad Mediterranean views from high limestone ground. This is an exposed landscape stop whose payoff comes from the outlook rather than indoor attractions.

Dingli Cliffs

Why go

The sea, Filfla and the stepped limestone landscape give a strong sense of Malta's western edge. Ta' Dmejrek, on the cliffs, is the island's highest point at 253 metres. The contrast between cultivated terraces, sheer drops and open water makes the area useful for understanding the island's geography.

What to look for

  • Filfla offshore
  • The limestone cliff faces
  • The high ground around Ta' Dmejrek

Useful to know

  • Combine the cliffs with Buskett Gardens for a contrast between exposed coast and woodland.
  • Keep away from cliff edges and select a marked viewing area.
